Setbacks aren’t the end-of-the-road unless you a Setbacks aren’t the end-of-the-road unless you allow them to be. It’s easy to wallow in a knock; it’s human nature.

Abandoning your health goals might feel easier than accepting a setback and need for course-correcting.

But which will feel better long-term: giving up now or achieving your goals in the timeline you envisioned?

Don’t be fooled into thinking a setback is permanent.

Think about it this way: you NEED the LOWS to understand the HIGHS.

Nothing is “good” without a point of comparison.

P.S. Congrats to the 4 women that have been granted a spot in the Neuro-Slim coaching program! One spot remains! Will it be you?
We won! Today is your lucky day too!!!! OMG! 🥳🥳🥳

I was clearing up my office and found a lotto ticket from August 2021, that was a winner!!! (It wasn’t a million dollar 💵 ticket, but it feels like it!!!!)

So, I thought, why not share the winnings with you!

I am offering 5 women a chance to start the 4 month Neuro-Slim Solution coaching program at a major discount!

Note: this is not a free coaching opportunity. There is still an investment from your end. The winnings from my ticket will offset your program so you pay less and get the help you need. Plus, I still get paid the same price for my expertise. Win win!

If you are interested just DM or send an email, and explain to me why you want to start the program!

A massive saving for 5 women! 2 spots already taken! 🤩

OVERCOMING WEIGHT-LOSS SETBACKS Setbacks are goin OVERCOMING WEIGHT-LOSS SETBACKS

Setbacks are going to happen. It's just a fact. I want you to do one thing, right this very moment...

Accept that at some point, you will encounter a setback or two! And that's okay. What's not okay is to use the setback as an excuse to quit all your hard efforts and give up on your goal.

Setbacks are part of anyone's weight loss journey. The good news is that by focusing on developing a neuro-slim mindset, you can overcome these setbacks without negatively impacting your weight loss progress. Here’s an important neuro-tip you can implement when dealing with a weight loss setback.

1️⃣ Avoid the temptation to judge the setback 👇

If you recognize that a setback is simply life taking its course, is there any need for you to judge your situation?

For example, during a weekend celebration, most people will put on weight. If you are on a food plan but find that you are a few pounds heavier after a weekend of celebrations, do not judge yourself and put yourself down. Many people in your position are experiencing this setback. It's minor and can be overcome. There is no point in sabotaging your future weight loss efforts by focusing on this one minor setback negatively.

Next time you experience a setback, remember that you cannot control everything that happens. Sometimes things will not go according to your well-thought-out plans, but with a neuro-slim mindset moving forward, these setbacks will have little impact on your long-term weight loss goals.

Do you feel this topic is helpful to read? Or could it be useful to someone else? Comment with a ❤️ or let me know why this was helpful. I want to ensure that the first thing you read in the morning on IG is of value.

Untangle life’s knots, one day at a time. Pict Untangle life’s knots, one day at a time.

Picture your life as a jumble of strings all tied up in knots, each string a different color. The different strings represent the different parts of your life, such as family, health, job, etc. Each knot represents a problem, and the process of untangling those knots and straightening out those problems is going to take time and effort. It took a long time to tie all those knots, and it will take some time to straighten them all out.

One of our problems is that in our modern society tends to jump from one thing to another. We have come to expect everything to be quick and easy. It's difficult for us to have the patience to stick with a problem until we see a breakthrough.

If it seems that you're not making any progress, it's because you’re untying your knots one at a time. It may be hard, and it may take time, but if you commit yourself to the process of healing and untangling, sooner or later you‘ll see victory in your life.

Some things you will experience freedom in a just a few months, others might take a few years.

The important thing to remember is, no matter how long it takes, never give up, and never quit. ❤️
For Yo-Yo dieters, the weight loss coaching indust For Yo-Yo dieters, the weight loss coaching industry has failed.

If a coach tells you that you don't need to unpack the past (to some degree) to move forward, they are WRONG! They have either:

👉not been educated enough (or at all) in neuropsychology
👉never experienced trauma
👉learned to cope with their sh**t through avoidance and a hypervigilant focus on fitness

I should know. I used to be a coach that would avoid the pain of the past by punishing myself with the ridiculous notion that if I focused on how I looked, everything would be ok. WRONG! 🤦‍♀️

Unfortunately, it took going through a divorce, sexual assault, cancer, MS, losing my identity as an athlete, and losing a lot of people in my life to realize I didn't need another trophy, magazine cover, or endorsement deal.

I needed therapy. ❤️

Therapy is essential for healing.

The power of therapy was so powerful that it led me down the path of becoming a therapist. Seven years of additional school was the best decision I ever made for my myself and my CLIENTS!

Since then, I have seen REAL success with clients because of the mesh between therapy and coaching.... which I developed into the well-known exclusive program called The Neuro-Slim Solution.

Some obstacles you're facing with your weight will be because of past experiences and stories you're stuck in. Although scary, to REALLY move forward, you may need to unravel the past.

If weight loss is an issue, treat it like you would with any injury, illness or trauma, seek an educated professional... not an IG influencer, weight loss challenge, or personal trainer you found on Craig's list. You deserve better.
Have you ever found yourself mentally tallying the Have you ever found yourself mentally tallying the calories in a certain meal or doing the mental math of what you've got left for the day?

In my early 20s, I spent far too much time becoming an expert on this. I could literally spout off the entire food label for any food. And let me tell you... what a waste of time!

I wish that knowing what I know now, I could get that time back, but in some ways, I don't regret it because it's gotten me to where I am today, living and teaching my Neuro-Slim protocol that is safe, valid, and reliable. (And doesn’t involve calorie counting!)

Let me be clear, counting your calories doesn't necessarily mean you're going to lose weight. Success comes from the real-world changes you make based on the data you're gathering.

The whole point of food journaling isn't to obsessively pore over arbitrary numbers. It's to get a clearer picture of why, when, and how much food you eat—as well as how you felt while eating those foods.

To do that, you're better off just writing down what you eat in a notebook. Calorie-counting apps don't make the process easier. They don't explain the nuances of why "calories in, calories out" might not work for you, and they're not even particularly accurate.

The kicker is most people who download a calorie-counting app don't keep up with it. A recent study found that when provided with a free self-monitoring app, only 2.58% of participants were active users and that most of those active users were already healthy.

So while a calorie tracking app can help you on a weight loss journey, it's not the source of success. You are. That's an important distinction to remember before putting all your trust in a calorie-counting app.
Just a friendly reminder - You can't order weight Just a friendly reminder - You can't order weight loss or optimal health on Amazon Prime.

You can't put in two days of hard work towards your health and expect sustainable results to happen that quickly.

Sure you can try to Amazon Prime your weight loss by trying drastic diets, juice cleanses, and waist trainers, but the quick results that come from those extreme measures ARE NOT sustainable.

Lose weight and creating a healthy life takes time, patience and consistency.

Instead, think of sustainable weight loss like this:

👉Losing 0.5-2lbs SOME weeks
👉Maintaining a new low weight SOME weeks
👉Seeing small spikes due to normal scale fluctuations SOME weeks

I ran for the first time in 2 years! No knee pai I ran for the first time in 2 years!

No knee pain, no fatigue, just pure joy!

For years, I told myself I would never run again because I have bad knees and live with MS.

But over the last few months, my body has significantly improved regarding joint pain and energy.

And it had NOTHING to do with food or exercise changes!

Those that know me well… know that I suffer from high functioning depression. It’s very common for people living with MS. (It also didn't help to move into a new home that failed to meet our expectations, especially during the pandemic.)

So what changes did I make over the last few months that has allowed me to start running again, and wake with oodles of energy?

👉I take anti-depressants
👉I talk to a therapist once a week
👉I sleep in on weekends
👉I take Sunday as my day off
👉I have weekly dates with my girlfriends
👉I take a lunch break and go for a walk… everyday
👉I finished my Master's program
👉I travel every month
👉I watch crime shows (my hobby)
👉We sold the house and bought a new one 🙌

The top thought every Yo-Yo dieter ponders: 👇👇

I’ve tried it all, and nothing works.

You see...

There’s a process of thoughts that goes through almost every person's mind when starting yet another diet.

First, they must be convinced that going on a “diet" is a good idea.

Then once they actually decide to take the plunge, the mind continues to spin with thoughts, doubts, fears and questions.

Success will require continual convincing to just stick with it, which is why an app or piece of paper that states what to eat and what exercises to do NEVER works.

Diets simply don't work.
Neuro-eating does.

DIY programs are diabolical investments for Yo-Yo DIY programs are diabolical investments for Yo-Yo dieters.

DIY programs might not be for you if you are a Yo-Yo dieter because they are generalized plans that don't consider that you may need more help than others. Also, they assume you will always act rationally on the information you get.

It's not that simple.

DIY weight loss programs are based on the premise that information is power and people will just do the work. WRONG!

How often have you downloaded a freebie to leave the email unopened?

How many times have you purchased a program, only to give up after a few days?

It is not because of a lack of willpower. It is a lack of accountability.

This is why NON of my Neuro-Slim programs are available as a DIY. I realized that unless people have someone supporting them through the material and discussing it 1-to-1 and how the information connects to their experiences, it will likely never be completed.

Your health deserves a PERSONAL approach, where you have the opportunity to talk openly with someone in a private, confidential manner. It's the best gift you can give your mind and body.

And I know that from personal experience. For the last 2 years I have had a private call with my mentor/coach/therapist 1-2x per week. It’s something I never realized I needed until I did it!! ❤️

Are you ready to start your non-DIY journey? Reach out, and let's talk!
It’s no surprise that family dynamics can be a m It’s no surprise that family dynamics can be a major contributor to eating and weight problems.

Obviously for a young child or teenager, how her parents regulate her food consumption and the eating behaviour they model will be the largest factors, other than genetics, affecting her relationship with food and her body.

Parents who are “normal” eaters and have a healthy attitude toward weight will likely produce children who are comfortable in their bodies and around food.

On the other hand, parents who are uptight around food, obsessed with calorie and fat gram counting, constantly dieting or monitoring their food intake, pass along to their children distorted, negative messages about the positive role food should play in life.

The act of feeding is not the only behaviour that leaves an imprint on children’s attitudes toward food and weight, parents who are preoccupied with their own, their parents or their children’s weight are modelling a mindset that says there is not a range of acceptable weights, only one ideal number for each person, which implies that there is something wrong of a body does not achieve it.

People who grow up with parents who overtly or covertly express extreme dissatisfaction with their own or each other’s bodies pick up the attitude that bodies cannot be loved unconditionally, but must be whipped into acceptability.

It is never too late to change your relationship with food and weight. You are not a lost cause. And if you think you can change your daughter’s mindset on food and the scale without changing yours… you are at risk for some upsetting times ahead.

Change starts with you. The parent. Be the role model you wish you had. It might feel like one of your best achievements, seeing her grown-up, confident in her body and able to enjoy food without guilt or shame…

All because YOU decided to change your relationship with food and the scale! ❤️
The rule of thumb for solving yo-yo dieting is to The rule of thumb for solving yo-yo dieting is to help the person become a “neuro-eater” before focusing on nutrition.

Here’s why. 👇👇👇

When yo-yo dieters focus on eating “right” or healthily, they often (unconsciously and consciously) restrict their choices, believing they should be eating by the book, and end up reacting as if they’re on a diet.

Restriction for any reason causes most yo-yo’ers to feel deprived, which often leads to rebellion by eating “unhealthy” foods.

Rather than a coach directing you to eat salads, smoothies, and vegetables, supporting them in “neuro-eating” is better.

A qualified and experienced CBT-Neuro coach can support you by:

👉 Helping you identify your hunger levels and what food you are in the mood for
👉 Encouraging you to stay aware while eating and stopping when full
👉 Teaching you how to deal with emotions without abusing food or alcohol

P.S. 👇👇👇
Seek websites and books whose legitimacy comes from science and licensed professionals, especially those with good standing in their fields and a sound track record. ❤️Your health depends on it.❤️

One trend I'm seeing on social media is the rise of health coaches. It feels like every third or fourth post on my feed is a quote from some "guru" or a perfectly manicured story of a coach in Tulum, Mexico selling the dream lifestyle. Low barriers to entry are allowing more people to anoint themselves as coaches - and that presents some issues.

Just to confirm: I am a huge fan of health coaches. I've had numerous coaches in the twenty years I've been in the field and they've had a positive and significant impact on my life.

Some of the most successful people in sports, business and in life all have health coaches. A legitimate health coach can take your life to a whole new level and the surging energy around wellness is great to see.

A very common character trait for people with eati A very common character trait for people with eating and weight issues is the victim mentality.

People suffering from victim mentality are mired in unfairness and angry that they must struggle with food and the scale.

Some believe that they're powerless to reach their eating or weight goals and resent having to try hard.

They often tell me all the reasons they cannot stop overeating or start eating healthy, whether that be because of:

👉an over-the-top job
👉family stresses
👉co-workers or relatives who tempt them with goodies
👉friends who insist on socializing over food
👉a love of cooking
👉no time to shop for healthy foods
👉and all the situations that stop them from exercising

They insist that everyone in their family is overweight and that they cannot fight genetics, so what's the point?

They will try to convince me that it's too late to start getting healthy at 30, 42, or 65 because the damage is already done.

They remind me of how many diets they have tried and failed at and how nothing has worked because they're simply too weak-willed or love food too much.

Why does this mentality doom failure? 👇👇

The person might lose some weight, but not all they want or not as quickly as they would like - proving to themselves that they really cannot have the body they want - and gives up.

So why is this mentality so hard to get over?

If someone learns to eat "normally" or reach and healthy weight, they will have to recognize that they have based their entire existence on a faulty premise. They have wrongly believed they are victims of circumstance or have a black cloud hanging over their heads.

I am beyond proud of my clients who have done the mental work to rid themselves of the victim mentality. You are an inspiration for so many that are still suffering.❤️❤️

“But Jill, I could NEVER keep chips in my house! “But Jill, I could NEVER keep chips in my house!! There’s NO WAY I could trust myself not to eat the entire bag in one sitting!”

If I had $1 for every time someone told me that, I’d be rich! 🤑

In my experience as a weight loss therapist and coach:
simply avoiding your trigger foods is NOT a long-term strategy for having a healthy relationship with food or for successful weight loss... unless you plan to keep those foods out of your house forever.

Keeping your trigger foods out of the house for a short period of time can help you lose weight and become healthier, but at some point, you have to start building self-trust around your trigger foods so that your results are sustainable long-term.

True food freedom means trusting yourself around ALL foods… Not simply the ones that are easy for you to be around.

So, how do you BUILD that self-trust around your trigger foods?

➡️ Practice doing what you say you’ll do, and start small! ⬅️

In the beginning, I recommend buying portion-controlled servings of your trigger foods. For example, buy a single-serve package of chips.

Decide how much you want to enjoy (your portion size) AHEAD of time: how many cookies will you enjoy? Or, how many scoops of ice cream? Portion out that exact amount and put the rest away.

Eat your pre-portioned serving away from the kitchen, and then have a different activity planned to do immediately after you enjoy it.

I won’t lie - in the beginning, it’s TOUGH to build trust around tempting foods. But like everything in life, the more you practice, the easier it becomes.

Do you have any trigger foods that you avoid? Or, have you learned to trust yourself and find peace with a certain food?

Share your experiences in the comments below! 👇👇👇
I see it all. the. time. People become SO fixated I see it all. the. time.

People become SO fixated on their weight that they allow that number to dictate their feelings of self-worth, their feelings of success or failure, and ultimately, their actions.

I’m talking about stepping on the scale, feeling frustrated by the number you see, and allowing THAT little number to dictate how you feel about yourself and how you act.

Can you relate?

If so, let me ask you this 👇

What would happen if you focused a little LESS on the number on the scale?

And a little MORE on the habits and actions you’ve developed over the years that led to you wanting to lose weight in the first place?

Examples of habits that may lead to weight gain include:
👉 nighttime snacking
👉 hitting the drive-through or ordering take out instead of cooking nutritious meals
👉drinking calorie-packed coffee beverages
👉mindlessly snacking instead of waiting for true hunger to eat
👉eating to the point of feeling uncomfortably full.

The scale is meant to be one TOOL that’s used to measure progress on your health journey, not the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

What’s one habit that you can focus on implementing today? Commit to it by sharing in the comments below!👇👇👇

Here are three things you must know, if you want your yo-yo diet habits to be a thing of the past.

1️⃣ Overcoming food problems and resolving weight issues touches on almost every aspect of your life - that includes:

👉 relationships
👉 self-care
👉 childhood socialization
👉 work
👉 play
👉 family

2️⃣ Even when not exploring food and weight issues, it's a good idea to keep in mind how working through these struggles will free up energy so you can focus on other things.

3️⃣ Viewing food issues as integral to, and not separate from, other troubling aspects of your life will encourage:

✅ skill development
✅ empowerment
