The thing is, nobody else lives in your head. Yes, this is coming from me, a therapist!

There isn’t a transcript you can extract from your brain and give to a coach or therapist to make them fully understand your life. It’s impossible!

You can’t go... “here, this is all of my life experiences that will help you understand me… now fix me!”

Perception comes from living the experience. Even if someone could get a read-out of your brain, your life still wouldn’t make total sense because they didn’t physically use your eyes, ears, tongue, and mind to navigate each experience.

You did that.

This is why I believe you cannot be a spectator in your own life! ❤️

Try is a weak word.

When it becomes a part of your vocabulary, what you’re actually doing is telling yourself that you’re not committed, serious, or interested in following through.

Stop saying, “I’ll try” … in life.

When you’re serious about whatever you’re doing, you stop implying that you will ‘try’ and, instead, simply do.

You commit to getting it done.
You commit to showing up.
You’re all in!

Look at everything you are “trying” to do and decide which of those things are non-negotiable.

Let me explain. Far too often I see folks get hung

Let me explain. Far too often I see folks get hung up on finding the “perfect” training plan, the perfect nutrition protocol, the perfect yoga pose that will only work for them for whatever reason.

For example, you may say things like this:

👉No diet has ever worked for me!
👉My metabolism must be slow.
👉I’ve been eating in a deficit for 6 months and haven’t lost a pound.
👉Macro tracking doesn’t work.
I’ve been following this plan for two weeks and nothing is happening.
👉I need to do a different plan.

If you're a coach, I apologize if the above phrases triggered any PTSD. I know, we've heard it all.

From my experience working with clients for over 20 years, I can tell you about only 5% of people need an out of this world, unique plan of attack because of severe genetic factors, predisposed issues, hormone imbalances. In this case, these folks are typically being treated by a DOCTOR!

Most people don't have the level of severity for these things to require a magical plan or advanced protocol!

For a lot of folks, thinking they need something outlandish to see any results is simply a scapegoat and a form of self-sabotage.

They're actually afraid to fail and be seen failing by others, therefore giving themselves a way out.

It's an excuse. Chances are, you're not special in terms of needing an advanced protocol - isn't that a WIN!!!!!

You just need to buckle up and adhere to something for more than 3 days.

Neither does your mentor, boss, friends, significant other, children, or parents.

All these people may (or may not) have great insights into who you are and what you are capable of, BUT – Here’s the thing:

If you keep looking to everyone else for what you should do, you’ll keep doing what everybody else thinks you should do.

YOU are the only person who really knows.

The only person who can make these decisions, who can answer these questions.

You are the one who has to answer, “What will my life mean?”

No matter how many personality tests you take or how many friends, colleagues, and mentors you ask, you are the only one who can answer.

Your life has never been lived before.

Your gifts, situation, and life experience exist in a unique combination. The flow of your life may follow a universal pattern, but it’s a one-of-a-kind adventure that is all yours to create and live.

No one else has as much information as you about your dreams, skills, and abilities.

Go ahead, trust yourself, and choose what’s next — with no regrets!
